Open passwords, locally, with no recovery hatch

This hub sets a user (open) password so Preview, Acrobat, and Chrome ask before showing pages. It is not Adobe’s full permission-policy suite (print/copy/edit flags as a separate enterprise product). Encryption wraps existing streams — it does not recompress photos, so quality stays. Because processing is Instant, there is no HTTPS upload and no auto-delete of a server copy: the PDF never arrived.

Password hygiene

Unique passphrase, not the company’s Wi-Fi. Send it by SMS, a call, or a password manager — not “password is in the next email.” Reusing “PDF123” makes AES irrelevant.

Limits of this lock

Passwords stay in the Worker, then vanish — nothing is stored. Forgotten phrases cannot be recovered. There is no OCR. Encryption is not redaction: anyone who can open the file still sees every field. Cover those first if a recipient should never read them even after unlock.

Free vs Premium

Everyday locks are free with no signup. Batch stacks and 100 MB+ files are Premium via Lemon Squeezy. Acrobat still wins for granular permission policies.
