Totals that follow the fields you type
Quantity times price, then discount, then tax
Every line contributes quantity times price, and those lines add up to the subtotal. The discount percent is taken from that subtotal. Tax is a percent of the amount after the discount, and the grand total is what remains plus the tax. Change a price, a quantity, the discount, or the tax and the preview updates from those fields. You can see the path from a single line to the figure at the bottom, which makes a last-minute price change easy to trust. Write the lines the way you would say them to the client, then let the form do the arithmetic.

Problems we solve
The total looks different from your own sum
Check the order. Discount comes off the subtotal first. Tax is a percent of what remains. A tax taken on the pre-discount subtotal will differ from the figure on this form.
