Canonical Split PDF Tool
Split PDF Online
You need page 3 of 40, or a chapter, not the whole binder. Select pages or type a range. This is surgery, not a new layout engine.

Splitting is selection, not rewriting
People arrive to pull a certificate, an invoice page, or a chapter. Instant paths keep bytes on the device when labeled. Cloud paths delete after download. We will not OCR. We will not guess 0-based versus 1-based — ranges are 1-based like humans. Encrypted files must be unlocked first. Bookmarks are often lost. The pages remain. Thumbnails when you do not know the numbers; ranges like 1-5, 8 when you do.
Click versus range
Thumbnails when you do not know the numbers — “the page with the stamp,” not “page 17.” Ranges like 1-5, 8 when you do. Mix clicks and ranges if the UI allows both. Selection order may become page order; check the queue. Non-contiguous extracts are normal: 1, 4, 9.
What stays Instant
Everyday splits in the tab. Interval-every-10-pages on a 800-page scan is Pro. A phone can pull a certificate. A textbook chapter dump belongs on a laptop with dedicated workers. Fair-use still applies on the heavy door.
Password files
Unlock first. Split cannot see inside a lock. A passworded binder produces nothing useful until it is readable. After extract, protect the piece again if policy wants a lock on the certificate alone.
How it works
- 1
Drop the PDF
If it is encrypted, unlock it on the unlock tool first. Huge textbooks may need Pro workers. A phone is fine for a few pages and the wrong tool for a 600-page interval job.
- 2
Select pages
Clicks, ranges, or both. Check thumbnails before you commit. Page 1 is page 1 — off-by-one is how the wrong form hits a portal. Preview beats explaining to a clerk.
- 3
Download the piece
Name it like a clerk. Page_3.pdf beats output.pdf. Open it once. Fields may flatten. Bookmarks may be gone. The pixels of the page should match the binder.
Use cases
One form from a packet
The portal wants page 2 only. Extract it. Do not upload the whole onboarding zip as one PDF and hope the clerk finds the form.
Chapter from a packet
Range split. Respect copyright if it is a book. Interval jobs on giant scans are Pro. This hub is surgery, not a pirate photocopier.
Certificate extract
One page for HR, not the whole onboarding packet. Name the file with the person’s name and the date so it does not vanish into Downloads.
Problems we solve
Wrong range off-by-one
Page 1 is page 1. Preview before download. Cover pages and blank backs throw people. Thumbnails exist so you do not send page 4 when you meant 3.
Splitting before unlock
Nothing useful comes out. Unlock first. A locked binder is not a “secure split”; it is an unread file.
A textbook every 10 pages on a phone
Pro VPS and a desk. Memory, heat, and tab suspension fight you. Everyday certificates can stay Instant on a phone; interval dumps cannot.

Trust & privacy
Instant when labeled
Bytes can stay on-device for everyday splits so medical and legal pages need not farm-sit. Heavy interval work is labeled Pro.
No rewrite of contents
We copy pages. We do not restyle them, OCR them, or stamp Bates. Scans stay scans. Fillable fields may flatten — proof if the extract must stay live.
Purge on cloud jobs
The binder is not our library. Download into the system that actually retains. We are not your records policy.
