Real redaction vs a black shape

Search “redact PDF” and half the results still teach overlay tricks. Overlay leaves the text in the file. Instant Redact on Convertify4u is built around removal plus flatten. It is still a browser tool: you draw boxes; it does not auto-find every SSN with OCR. Scanned pages are images — a box over pixels is not the same as deleting a text object. Always inspect the saved file.

How a pass works

Load the PDF locally. Draw rectangles over names, account numbers, addresses. Export. pdf-lib removes underlying text where it exists and flattens so the marks are not a peelable layer. Nothing is sent to Convertify4u.

What this is not
