A merge is clerk work: order plus glue. Drop files in reading order, or drag the queue until the cover is first and the signature page is last. Filename sort lies — IMG_0047 is not exhibit B. Instant-labeled jobs keep bytes in the tab. Fifty-plus files or huge feeder scans use Pro workers on Hetzner because RAM and time are real. We will not pretend a phone tab is a print-shop SLA. Encrypted members must be unlocked before they enter the stack. A locked part sits out; the packet looks complete until a clerk notices page 12 never arrived. Source outlines usually drop away. The pages remain. Rebuild a table of contents later if a court or a DMS wants one — concatenation does not write a new TOC. We copy pages into a new wrapper. Mixed A4 and letter boxes stay mixed. Fillable fields may flatten. Preview the joints before you email a court. Cloud fallback jobs still delete after download; this packet is not our archive.

Merge is order plus glue

People arrive to make one packet from invoices, exhibits, ID copies, and signed counterparts. Instant-labeled concatenations keep bytes in the tab. Jobs that leave the machine still purge after download. Encrypted files must be unlocked first or they never join. Source outlines rarely survive the glue even when every page copies. That honesty is the product, not a slogan about “smart PDF AI.”

Drop order is page order

Fix it in the queue. We will not read your mind about exhibits, schedules, or which counterpart is current. Leading zeros in filenames help only if you actually sort that way. Thumbnails exist so you can catch the upside-down scan before a judge does. Cover first, annexes after, signature page where the binder would put it.

Instant versus Pro

A handful of office PDFs: Instant, on-device when labeled. A 50-file dump, a year of statements, or massive scans: Pro VPS. Loading fifty 20 MB feeders in a laptop tab is how fans scream. Fair-use still applies on the heavy door. Test order on two files on the hub before you pay to glue a warehouse.

Bookmarks

Outlines are often discarded. The pages remain. If a reviewer needs a clickable TOC, rebuild it in a tool meant for outlines after you like the page order. We glue. We do not invent exhibit tabs or Bates numbers.

How it works

  1. 1

    Unlock any locked parts

A passworded member will not enter the stack. Open it on an unlock path first, then add the readable file to this queue. If you skip this, the download looks fine until someone notices an exhibit never appeared.

  2. 2

    Reorder like a clerk

Cover first, exhibits after, signature last unless the ritual is different. Drag the queue. Thumbnails help. Filename order is not legal order. Spot-check the joint between file 1 and file 2 before you send.

  3. 3

    Download one PDF

Open the middle, not only page 1. If page 12 is missing, that source never entered. Mixed page sizes are preserved. If a clerk needs uniform A4, normalize before or after — this step only concatenates.

Use cases

Application packets

Forms plus ID copies in one upload because the portal refuses a zip. Order the ID after the form if that is what the checklist said, then preview before you hit submit.

Month-end AP

Vendor PDFs in date order so a reviewer can flip instead of opening twenty attachments. Huge statement dumps belong on the large-merge spoke, not a phone on LTE.

Signed counterparts

Body plus signature page as one file for email. Raster signature pages stay pictures. We do not validate wet ink or become a notary.

Problems we solve

Merging still-encrypted files

Unlock first. A locked part is silently absent from the packet, which is worse than an error dialog if you only glanced at the title page.

Wrong order emailed to a court

Preview. Then send. Dragging two files in the wrong sequence is faster to fix here than in a clerk’s voicemail. We will not guess “seems important.”

Expecting a new table of contents

We glue. We do not write a TOC, stamp Bates, or restyle exhibits. Bookmarks from sources are often discarded. Rebuild outlines later if policy wants them.

Trust & privacy

Instant when labeled

On-device everyday concatenations so sensitive packets need not sit on a random GPU. Heavy stacks are labeled Pro before you queue, not after a spinner.

Pages copied, not restyled

What you had is what you get, in a new wrapper. Mixed sizes stay mixed. We do not “enhance” scans or run OCR as a surprise.

Purge on cloud jobs

If a job leaves the tab, it still should not linger. The packet is not our archive. Download into the matter system that actually retains.
