Instagram and Social Cutouts — Stickers, Covers, Avatars

One PNG sticker, many crops. Isolation is local so unreleased campaigns are not sitting on a public farm. Sizes are a second step.

Creator cutouts stay on-device. Export once, resize for each social platform, and never upload raw campaign files to the cloud.

Instagram does not want a magic “social background eraser.” It wants a ratio. Feed tiles are 1:1 or 4:5. Stories and Reels covers are 9:16 (1080×1920). Profile circles are cropped from a square. YouTube thumbs are 1280×720 landscape — a different box. TikTok stills are vertical like Stories. LinkedIn banners are wide. WhatsApp and Telegram DPs are small squares. Isolate once, then export a file per destination with Image Resizer. Stretching one square into every shape is how faces get clipped. Creators also fight studio walls, colored paper, and “remove the white” for a sticker. Isolation handles the wall. Safe zones are your composition: Instagram chrome eats the top and bottom of Stories. Keep faces in the center 60% of height. Talking-head rooms look messy in a Reel cover; a cutout on brand color is cleaner. Do not upload unreleased music, unannounced merch, or embargoed talent to a random GPU site. This path stays in the tab. After PNG, compress only if the app still refuses the upload — pixels first, kilobytes second. YouTube end cards and LinkedIn articles are extra exports, not extra isolation passes.

Ratios first, then a sticker PNG

1080×1080 for grid and many carousels. 1080×1350 if you want 4:5 feed. 1080×1920 for Stories, Reels covers, TikTok stills, WhatsApp status. 1280×720 (or 1920×1080) for YouTube thumbs — never a vertical Story crop. 1500×500 is an X header, not a feed post. 1200×627-class images are LinkedIn/Facebook link cards. Pinterest pins like 2:3. Isolate the talent or product, then lock those integers in Image Resizer. Colored-paper and black-paper sets: isolation still works; you may want to keep a colored field on purpose for brand. White seamless: knock it out for a sticker, or keep it for a “studio” look. Portrait spoke if hair is the failure; this page is the distribution map.

How it works

  1. 1

    Isolate the subject once

Camera still or studio frame. Proof hair and hands. Keep the PNG as the master sticker.

  2. 2

    Export a crop per surface

Square for feed, 9:16 for Stories/Reels, 16:9 for YouTube. Do not stretch. Crop Image if you must reframe.

  3. 3

Post from the phone file, not a random screenshot

Upload the sized JPG/PNG. If Instagram recompresses, you already started from the right box — that is the win.

Use cases

Reels and Stories stickers

Talent on a branded color, UI-safe margins. 1080×1920 canvas in your editor after the PNG exists.

Grid and carousel

Uniform 1080 squares so swipe height does not jump.

YouTube and LinkedIn extras

Same talent, landscape thumb or article card. Second export, same master.

Chat avatars

WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack. Center the face in a square; circles will clip corners.

Problems we solve

Platform chrome covering faces

Stories UI is not in our PNG. Leave margin in the composition.

One file stretched to every ratio

Export per box. LinkedIn is not TikTok.

Campaign leaks to random AI hosts

Keep isolation on-device until you hit Publish in the official app.

Trust, speed & privacy

Local campaign stills

Unreleased merch and talent stay on the laptop until you post.

Ratio honesty

We list pixel boxes; we do not auto-post to Instagram.

No stamp on stickers

A watermarked sticker is unusable in a Reel.
