Marketplaces have opinions about white

Main images on Amazon-like catalogs are usually a product on white, JPEG, with a size cap. A transparent PNG looks correct in Shopify and illegal on that main slot. Know which slot you are filling before you flatten.

SKU shots versus lifestyle

Lifestyle scenes with real rooms should not be force-whitened. Those are already opaque photos — convert for weight, do not pretend they were packshots.

Email to suppliers

Chat PNGs of labels are enormous. JPEG gets them under Outlook caps. Do not JPEG a barcode until you check it still scans.
