Free should mean local, not “free then signup”
A lot of “free cropper” results still bounce you through an email gate, a daily quota, or a watermark. This landing is the no-account path: the editor is the same Instant Canvas habit as the hub, spelled out for people who searched for free, browser-only, no registration. You do not install a desktop package. You do not create a Convertify4u login to trim one still. Drag-and-drop is enough. Privacy is part of “free” here — a tool that costs $0 but uploads the family album is not a good deal. After the page loads, painting and encoding happen in the tab. Eligible everyday jobs stay free; Pro is reserved for labeled OCR, heavy batch, or oversized VPS work, not a surprise lock on a single JPEG. Quality: throwing away edges does not by itself ruin a photo. Saving JPEG a second time can. If you started from a PNG screenshot or a logo, export PNG. If you started from a camera JPEG, one high-quality JPEG export is usually fine. Avoid download-reupload-download chains. Email and LMS forms often care about kilobytes more than aspect; frame first so you are not compressing hallway pixels you will discard. Website CMS fields care about both the box and the weight — trim to the slot, then compress if Core Web Vitals or a 200 KB rule still fail. School and office machines that block installers can still use a browser. HEIC still needs a decode step. Watermarks are not added on standard Instant exports.
