What free actually unlocks
No login wall between you and the canvas
A lot of collage sites let you drag files in, then freeze export behind email capture. This spoke is the opposite: open the page, add JPEG/PNG/WebP/GIF, pick a layout, download. We do not need an account to “store your project” because there is no project server. School Chromebooks, shared family PCs, and guest sessions can finish a board without a parent creating yet another password. If you are already signed in for other Convertify4u tools, that session does not change the collage pipeline.
Pixels vs filename branding
Competitors often bake a logo into the lower third and charge to remove it. We do not overprint the bitmap. Free-tier downloads may insert convertify4u into the filename before the extension — a stem change only, documented in the download helper. Unlimited/paid users keep a clean stem. If a reviewer inspects the file in an image editor, they will not find a baked-in banner. That distinction matters when you are sending a birthday board in iMessage and do not want a site name sitting on Grandma’s face.
Limits we will not hide behind “unlimited”
Sixteen photos per board. Three aspect boxes. Capture is 2× the CSS canvas, so a square export is about 2160 px on a side — not a 300 DPI A2 poster. Layouts are CSS grids and clip-paths, not a generative model. Those ceilings are why the tool can stay free and local: your device does the work. If you need 80-image yearbooks or millimetre-accurate print, you are in InDesign territory. For a Friday-night Instagram tile or a classroom poster of six field-trip shots, the free path is the whole product.
