Collage and Carousel Maker: Layouts That Read Clearly
A collage is a poster made of other pictures. A carousel is a sequence of those posters that people swipe. Convertify4u’s /collage-maker (and carousel siblings such as /instagram-carousel-maker) arranges cells. It will not write your marketing strategy. If each cell shouts a different discount, the swipe feels like a banner farm. One idea per frame, large enough type to survive Instagram’s own compression, and a first frame that still makes sense if nobody swipes.
Grids that work on a phone
3×3 of tiny faces is a yearbook, not an ad. 2×2 with breathing room reads. Carousels: 4–7 slides is a story; 20 slides is a PDF you should have made with /convert/powerpoint-to-pdf. Keep a consistent margin so the brand does not jump 12 pixels every swipe.
Aspect ratio: square carousels and 4:5 portraits behave differently in the feed. Design in the ratio you will upload. Crop sources with /crop-image before you drop them into cells so a face is not bisected by a gutter.
Convertify4u layout steps
- Gather licensed images (your products, your photos). Customer photos need permission.
- Open
/collage-makeror the carousel template that matches the platform. - Instant-labeled editors can keep the composition in the browser. Cloud export, if any, is HTTPS and auto-delete.
- Place the strongest image or sentence in cell one / slide one.
- Export. Compress once with
/image-compressorif the PNG collage is fat. Platforms will compress again; starting from soup guarantees soup. - Preview on a real phone, not only the desktop canvas.
A single collage export is Free-shaped. Two hundred SKU grids lean Pro.
Type inside the image
If the sentence is the point, use few words and high contrast. Carousel text that is actually a caption belongs in the Instagram caption field so screen readers and translations work. Burned-in 10px legal copy is how you get ignored and inaccessible.
Gutters: too tight, cells collide; too wide, it looks sparse and accidental. Match the platform’s implied padding.
Mixing collage and GIF
A collage is still. If you needed motion, /gif-maker is a different artifact. Do not screenshot a GIF into a collage cell unless you want a frozen frame on purpose.
Color, gutters, and the first-slide test
Show slide one to someone who has not heard the campaign. If they cannot say the offer in one breath, rewrite the cell, do not add more cells. Recolor every photo to the same white balance so the grid does not look like five different days. Gutters should be even; a 3px mistake is loud on a 6-cell layout.
Number slides only if the story is instructional. Numbering a mood collage looks like a textbook. Product carousels can use “1/5” in the caption, not burned into every image — platforms already show dots.
Covers, stickers, and the swipe-away last slide
The last slide is often a logo graveyard. Make it a single next step (URL, offer, date) or omit it. Stickers and emoji piled on a collage cell fight the photos. If you need a sticker aesthetic, design fewer cells.
Cover slides that only say “swipe” waste the only autoplay frame some apps show. Put the product in frame one.
When exporting for print (a real paper collage), use a higher pixel canvas than you would for Instagram, then do not run Maximum image compress. Paper is less forgiving of crunchy JPEGs than a phone feed.
Privacy of customer UGC
User photos in a promo collage are still their faces. Instant helps with processing location, not with consent. Convertify4u does not sell compositions.
If an export clips a cell or ignores a layer, /contact with template name, cell count, and Instant vs cloud — not the unpublished campaign. Safaat Rahman Siham prefers five readable slides to a 12-cell mosaic nobody can parse on a sidewalk.
