A WebP logo, sticker, or icon becomes a PNG that keeps the transparent background and the same pixel size. Soft edges stay soft. An animated WebP becomes a still of its first frame. The file is uploaded, converted, and downloaded as a PNG. A photo will not look sharper, and the PNG is often larger.
Drop one WebP or several. Anything that is not a real WebP is turned away with the usual error.

Each file is uploaded and written as a PNG. The alpha channel stays. An animated WebP keeps its first frame only.

PNG or JPG: which one?
PNG is the file to edit when the background must stay clear. JPG is the smaller file when the picture is a photo and white behind it is fine.

Why PNG
PNG is the still image that Photoshop, Canva, Figma, Cricut, and Office already open. It can keep a transparent background, including the soft edge of a sticker or the shadow under a logo. This converter writes that PNG from the WebP without painting a color behind it.
WebP can be transparent too, which is why the saved file arrived as .webp. Google’s WebP docs and MDN both describe it as a web format. A design tool or a printer may still ask for PNG. That is the handoff this page is for.
A PNG will not sharpen a photo
If the WebP was a lossy photo, the PNG looks the same, not better. Detail that the WebP already threw away does not come back. The PNG is often much larger, because it stores the pixels without JPEG-style compression. For a photo you only need to send or print, the JPG page is the smaller choice.
WebP and PNG, side by side
Both formats can be transparent, and WebP can be lossless, but WebP is usually the smaller file a website serves. PNG is the one more editors and upload forms accept. This page keeps the transparency and the pixel size of the decoded frame. It does not add a quality slider or a background color.
An animated WebP becomes the first frame, as a still PNG, at that frame’s size. Later frames are not included, and the download is not an animation.
On Windows, Paint can open many WebP files and save a PNG. On a Mac, Preview’s Export dialog can write a PNG. On a phone, saving a transparent copy is less consistent, and some share sheets flatten the image. This page keeps the alpha channel on every file you add, including several at once.
