Design tools want a web-native raster, not a camera container
UI and web designers need assets that drop into Photoshop, Figma, and Canva. HEIC is a poor citizen there, especially on Windows. WebP is lighter on the canvas and matches what production will often ship. Local conversion keeps unreleased UI off a random cloud. WebP is still a raster. It is not a layered PSD. Do the design work in the app. For alpha cutouts on older pipelines, PNG may be safer. For print, TIFF. For email comps, JPEG. Hub is the general converter. Live-site performance is the websites spoke. Quality slider theory is the sharp-WebP spoke.
