iPhone HEIC to PDF — Fix the AirDrop Preview Dead End

You sent photos to a Windows laptop and Explorer shrugged. The files are not corrupt. They are Apple’s camera format. Wrap them as PDF so Edge and Acrobat show pages instead of a codec lecture.

Built for Apple handoffs — wrap iPhone stills as PDF locally so PCs stop asking for codecs.

Need the main converter? HEIC to PDF

The still left the phone. Compatibility did not.

iPhone cameras write HEIC to save space. Inside Photos that is invisible. After AirDrop, Mail, or iCloud Drive on a PC, recipients see blank thumbs or “cannot open.” Installing HEVC extensions is a bad ask for a client, a parent, or a registrar. A PDF is the document they already have a reader for. This page is only that Apple-to-everywhere handoff. It is not a print-shop DPI essay and it is not a 200-page textbook batch guide. It is: take the stills you already shot, assemble a document in the browser, send one attachment. Safari on iOS works. A Mac that received the AirDrop works. The decode never goes to our servers — useful when the photos are kids, a passport, or a house you have not listed yet. If you wanted a JPEG for a chat app, that is a different converter. If the next stop is a campus print counter, continue to the printing spoke after you have a PDF.

How it works

  1. 1

Collect stills from Photos or Files

AirDrop, iCloud Drive, or USB. You can also open this page in Safari and pick from the roll directly.

  2. 2

    Decode on this device

The browser turns Apple stills into PDF pages. Camera Roll bytes do not land on Convertify4u disks.

  3. 3

    Send one document

The “what is a .heic?” thread ends when the attachment opens in Edge.

Use cases

AirDrop to a PC

Wrap the drop as PDF before the Windows user thinks the files are broken.

Client delivery from Photos

Agencies outside Apple’s world should not need a Mac to see the shoot.

Mail to Android relatives

One PDF attachment beats a pile of unsupported stills in Gmail.

Shared iCloud folders

Mixed Mac and Windows teams get a document, not a codec lottery.

Problems we solve

Explorer cannot preview the drop

Missing codecs, not a bad export. PDF removes the codec from the conversation.

Portals that never heard of HEIC

School and government uploaders list PDF. Convert before you sit in the form.

“Your file is corrupt” replies

It is not. The format is Apple-only. A document makes that argument disappear.

Trust & privacy

Roll privacy

Personal iPhone stills stay on-device during conversion.

Safari is enough

No extra App Store converter for this workflow.

Opens on any OS

PDF is the fastest fix after a failed AirDrop thumbnail.
