Scanned PDF to Word (AI OCR)

A feeder scan, a phone photo of a letter. There is no text layer. OCR guesses characters. You still owe the file a human read on names and numbers.

AI OCR for scanned documents requires an Ultra or Pro subscription (Lemon Squeezy). Native digital PDFs remain free on our hub converter. View plans

OCR is a model, not a clerk

Clean 300 DPI typed pages work best. Handwriting, stamps, and dark copies invent letters. Ultra/Pro is labeled. Digital text PDFs should not come here.

Straighten first

Skewed lines confuse OCR more than a missing font.

Language and stamps

Mixed languages and ink stamps are where models lie.

How it works

  1. 1

Confirm it is really a scan

If you can select text, use the hub instead.

  2. 2

    Run Pro OCR

Lemon Squeezy. Keep the tab open.

  3. 3

    Proof names, totals, clause numbers

    The dangerous errors look plausible.

Use cases

Paper letters that must be edited

Recover, then rewrite in Word.

Old reports as images

Expect cleanup.

IDs

Usually a bad OCR idea. Keep them as pictures unless policy demands text.

Problems we solve

Trusting totals without reading

OCR loves to swap 8 and 3.

Handwriting as “text”

Often unusable. Retype.

OCR on a text PDF

Wrong engine. Use digital convert.

Trust & privacy

Labeled Pro

No fake free OCR theater.

No retention as training copy

Process, then delete. Provider terms still exist for the API hop.

Honest quality

We tell you to proof.
