Need the main tool? Split PDF

A long PDF often holds one certificate, one signed page, or one exhibit you actually need to send. The rest can stay in the original. Pull out the pages you want to keep, and leave the others unassigned so they never appear in the download. This is the same split tool, aimed at that keep-list. On a PDF of 100 MB or smaller, the work runs in the browser with pdf-lib. You can make up to 40 parts. Each page belongs to only one part. Pages you never assign are omitted. The downloads are separate PDFs, not a single archive, and each file name includes the part number and the page range, in the form of the stem, then part, then the pages. If the browser split fails, the page retries on the server. That fallback uses the free limit of 12 MB and eight times a day. There is no rotate control on this tool. Turning a page is a different job. Here you decide which page numbers to keep, you leave the leftovers unassigned, and you open the download before you send it.

Keep a few pages, and leave the rest out

Tap the page numbers you want in the part you are keeping. Anything still unassigned is skipped, and each saved file carries its range in the name.

A keep-list inside a longer packet

Start from the PDF you can already open. The screen shows page numbers. You choose a part and tap a page to add it or take it off. The pages you care about, a diploma on page 4 or a signature on page 12, go into the part you will download. The cover letter, the blank sheet, and the appendix you are not sending stay unassigned. Unassigned pages are omitted. You do not have to invent a second packet just to hold the leftovers.

One page, one part, up to forty parts

A page cannot sit in two parts at once. Put page 9 in the extract and it leaves every other part. You may use a single part when one file of chosen pages is the whole job, and you may use more when two people need two different extracts. The ceiling is 40 parts. Each part you keep must contain at least one page. The original PDF remains on your computer. The new files are the subsets you assigned.

Separate downloads, with the range in the name

Each part downloads on its own. The file name includes the part number and a compact page range, so a download can be recognized as part 1, pages 4 and 12, without opening it. They are separate files, not one ZIP. Open each one and confirm the sheet you meant is the sheet you got. On a file at or under 100 MB, pdf-lib does this locally. If that local run fails, the server retry accepts 12 MB on the free plan, eight times a day.

How it works

  1. 1

Add a PDF at or under 100 MB

The browser path uses pdf-lib for a file that size. If the local split fails, the server fallback is 12 MB and eight runs a day on the free plan. You are pulling pages out, not rotating them.

  2. 2

Assign only the pages you want to keep

Tap page numbers into the part you will send. Take a page off if it landed in the wrong group. Leave everything else unassigned so it is omitted. Each page can belong to only one part, and you can use up to 40 parts.

  3. 3

    Download each kept part

The files arrive separately. The name includes the part number and the page range. Open the download and match it to the sheets you meant to keep before you forward it.

Use cases

One certificate from a packet

Assign that page, leave the onboarding bundle unassigned, and send a one-page PDF whose name shows the range.

The signed page only

Keep the signature sheet in the part you download. The draft pages stay out because they were never assigned.

A few exhibits

Pages 2, 9, and 15 can share one part, or sit in separate parts if different people should receive different sheets. Forty parts is the ceiling.

Problems we solve

A leftover page that snuck into the file

If a blank or a cover is still inside a part, tap it off so it becomes unassigned. Unassigned pages are omitted from every download.

The same page wanted in two sends

Each page can be in only one part. Download the first extract, then run again from the original if another person needs that same sheet in a different file.

A local split that does not finish

The server retry is the fallback, at 12 MB and eight times a day on the free plan. The 100 MB figure is the local cap. Neither path includes a rotate control.

Trust & privacy

Unassigned means omitted

Pages you do not place in a part stay out of the downloads. The keep-list is the file.

Local at or under 100 MB

pdf-lib splits in the browser up to that size, with as many as 40 parts, each page in one part.

Names that show the range

Separate downloads include the part number and the page range, so you can see what you extracted before you open the PDF.
