Mobile Excel to PDF — Convert on iPhone & Android

An Excel attachment on a phone is awkward if you do not have the Office app. Upload from Files or the mail download, let Gotenberg render, save the PDF. Your phone is not running LibreOffice — that is the point. Huge models still belong on Pro/desktop.

Phone UI, server-side LibreOffice

This is not Instant-local like Sign PDF. The workbook uploads over HTTPS. That is why a stable connection matters and why we warn against converting a 80 MB model on LTE. The benefit is you do not install Excel or a sketchy converter app just to share a table.

iPhone and Android

Safari and Chrome use the system file picker. Save the PDF to Files or share to WhatsApp. Keep the tab foregrounded until download completes.

Windows and Mac use the same URL

Edge, Chrome, Safari on laptops — identical Gotenberg backend. Mobile is a layout, not a different converter.

When to switch to a computer

Multi-sheet batches, 100 MB+ files, and careful print-area debugging are easier on a large screen. Orientation still matters on a phone; zoom the PDF after download.

How it works

  1. 1

    Open in Safari or Chrome

No App Store converter. Pick the spreadsheet from Files or an email download.

  2. 2

    Let the VPS render

Gotenberg converts. The phone does not parse a massive xlsx in RAM.

  3. 3

    Save the PDF

Share via WhatsApp or Mail. Standard mobile jobs follow the same free/Pro rules as desktop.

Use cases

Mail attachment, no Excel app

Turn the XLSX into a PDF you can actually open and forward.

WhatsApp sharing

Recipients get a PDF instead of a file their phone cannot preview.

Same link at home and office

Mac at home, Windows at work, phone in between — one web converter.

No software install

Locked-down phones that cannot add apps still have a browser.

Problems we solve

Client-side convert crashing Safari

We do not parse the workbook in the tab. The VPS does.

Recipient cannot open .xlsx

PDF is the universal attachment. That is the whole job.

Unknown mobile converter apps

Browser + private Hetzner + delete beats a random Play Store uploader.

Trust & privacy

Server-side convert

Phone uploads once; worker renders.

No app

Safari/Chrome only.

Same free line

Standard singles free. Massive workbooks may need Premium.
