Two overlapping shots as two pages, or fold carefully so the total still shows. Distant full-body shots of a receipt fail.

Black-and-white to save size?

Risky — logos and colored “PAID” stamps vanish. Keep color unless the slip is already gray type on gray paper.

Can you read the amount into a spreadsheet?

No. This is a picture. Type the number yourself or use a real expense OCR you trust.

Restaurant receipts with a second signature copy?

Capture the copy you need for policy — usually the one with the tip line filled in.

Faded slip from last month?

Shoot it anyway, then add a note in the expense system. Prevention is capturing the same day.

Should I scan the credit-card slip too?

If policy wants both, yes — two pages. Mask PAN digits if you are emailing outside finance.

Unroll the slip. A glass table plus flash is a white rectangle. Side light, no flash, flatten with a notebook.
