Document Scanner Guide

High Quality Document Scanner

Muddy type is almost always lighting and distance, not a missing premium filter. This page is the technique guide. The same capture UI — used like you mean it.

Resolution cannot invent a lamp

Fill the frame with the page

If the sheet is a postage stamp in the photo, the PDF page is a postage stamp. Step closer. Parallel to the paper. Corners in the shot, then crop the rest.

Shadows at the binding

Books and stapled packs shade the gutter. Press the page flatter or shoot one leaf at a time. A contrast slider will not lift a black wedge into letters.

When “HD” is a lie

A 12 MP sensor already has more pixels than a clerk’s screen. Soft focus and motion are the enemy. We will not sell you a super-resolution fairy tale.

How it works

  1. 1

Light from the side, not the flash

Window or lamp. Flash bounce on glossy worksheets is how totals disappear.

  2. 2

    Hold still after autofocus

Half-press, wait for the snap of focus, then shoot. Elbows on the table if you can.

  3. 3

    Crop, then judge at 100%

If a word fails at true size, reshoot. Exporting twice will not add information.

Use cases

Fine print on contracts

Clause numbers that must remain readable when a lawyer pinch-zooms.

Pencil homework

Graphite needs light more than it needs a filter named “document.”

Stamped pages

Ink color that must survive grayscale temptation.

Problems we solve

Upscalers on blurry shots

They invent edges. Clerks can tell. Reshoot.

Over-sharpening

Halos around letters look like a cheap TV. Prefer a better original.

JPEG from a chat app

WhatsApp compression already threw pixels away. Ask for the original, then capture again.

Privacy & security

Technique over marketing megapixels

We tell you to move the lamp instead of selling a slider named Ultra.

Same local engine

Quality is your capture, not a cloud GPU.

Pairs with crop and compress

Crop first. Compress last. Never the reverse.
