From camera roll to one recap

Edit the set before you design

A birthday dump might be 200 frames. The studio max is sixteen, and even nine is a lot on a phone screen. Pick: the face with the cake, two candids of guests, the gift table if it matters, maybe a wide of the room. Weddings follow the same edit: ceremony wide, couple, detail, party. Holidays: the table, the people, one detail (tree, rangoli, grill). If you cannot name why a frame is in the board, it is not in the board. That edit is the craft; the template is just the container.

iPhone HEIC and group-chat compression

Party photos often arrive as HEIC or as twice-compressed WhatsApp saves. Convert HEIC to JPG/PNG before the drop zone. If the only copy is a chat export, you will not get print-sharp cheeks — be kind about expectations. Privacy is part of the gift

Children’s birthday sets and family gatherings are why the private spoke exists. Building the recap in-tab means the collage site is not another place those faces live. When you share, you choose the channel (iMessage, a private album you already trust). Shape masks (hearts) are optional sentiment, not a requirement. A clean 4-cell 1:1 with faces panned on-center will beat a 16-cell heart every time.

How it works

    Select, then convert

    Choose the story frames from the roll. Run HEIC conversion if the files will not appear in the picker.

    Use a low cell count

    Four to six for a chat recap. Save the 12-cell sheet for a contact-sheet print experiment, not for Instagram.

    Export and send the file

    JPG is usually enough. Rename it “Maya-8th-2026.jpg” so it is not lost in Downloads.
