How the where monkey format actually works
Where Monkey is a wide-eyed puppet or CGI monkey scanning the room, used as a 'where is it' search still. Captioners treat the two boxes as the missing object and the frantic seeker, or as a question plus a location that is obviously wrong. It is hunting comedy without a revealed prize. The head-turn is the whole performance. Unlike Scooby's mask pull, nothing is unmasked yet; the search is still on. Ask where the thing went, or name the thing and the hopeless searcher. Keep it as a question if you can: 'where banana,' 'where my weekend,' 'where the spec.' The monkey's eyes should do the panic. A second line can name the last known location ('it was in staging'). Short, slightly broken English is in-genre for this slug's community voice, but do not mock anyone's real fluency.
